Making it's debut at the Newcastle Craft Alive Show - The Confetti Headband, made by Shelby. 1 skein will make one headband for you, and one for a friend! This chunky weight yarn is perfect for Autumn and also keeps your ears warm!
Pattern By Shelby Byron
You will need:
1/2 a skein of Papatya Mouline Chunky (I used colour 5351)
A 5 mm hook
A darning needle
Stitches Used: (US terms)
Ch - Chain
Hdc - Half double crochet
Sl St - Slip stitch
Turning Chains are counted as stitches throughout.
Main Band:
Make a chain of 16.
Row 1: Hdc in third ch from hook, hdc in each chain across. (15 hdc)
Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in the top of the next 14 stitches. (15 hdc)
Repeat Row 2* 52 times, or until the band fits around your head.
Fold with right sides together, sl st in the BLO of both sides to end.
Cut yarn and sew in ends.
Cinch the band at the join to create 2 folds, stitch back and forth through the middle to secure the folds. (Don’t worry, this will be covered)
Small Band:
Make a chain of 6.
Row 1: Hdc in third Ch from hook. Hdc in each Ch across. (5 hdc)
Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in the top of the next 4 stitches. (5 hdc)
Repeat row 2* 5 times, or until the band covers the cinched part of the headband.
Sl st together around the headband x 5
Cut yarn off with approx 40 cm tail.
On the inside of the headband, use the tail to secure small band in place.
Voila! You should have a cute and colourful headband!
